Description:

The Smart Oven's Element IQ puts the power where it's needed most. For each of the 9 pre-set programs, Element IQ delivers the right power at the right time and when adjusted to taste, it even remembers. Element IQ works much like the dimmer in your light switch-it can turn the power up or down. Instead of the 5 heating elements having a fixed wattage, Element IQ automatically puts the power where it is needed most for the specific cooking task. Not only does the Smart Oven heat up faster than a conventional wall oven, it's also more energy efficient than its predecessor, making it a kitchen tool you will use every day.

The product meets all my expectations. The heating elements on my old Bella Cochina toaster oven burned out in under 2 years. I am hoping for better with this one.

5Does just about everythingSep 06, 2010
I bought this oven because living in Florida, and loving to cook, I was looking for a way to avoid using my regular oven which puts a lot of heat in the kitchen. Also the oven had to toast in order to save counter space. Well, this oven has done everything I've asked it to do and done it very well. I've roasted vegetables, baked muffins, baked home made pizza's, made toast beautifully, broiled and baked fish, broiled meats, baked an upside down cake, used it to heat and re-heat various foods, made bruschetta etc. The convection feature saves time and the oven is easy to clean. As a added benefit it saves on our electric bill. My husband loves it, particularly for the pizza's. In a household with only two people, there is seldom a need to fire up our large oven. A great product.

5The best toaster oven ever!Sep 06, 2010
The Breville oven is simply the best electronic piece of equipment I own. I could not recommend this oven more highly. It toasts bread, bakes frozen pizzas and cookies, reheats leftovers, everything and anything you can fit into it - perfectly. I would purchase another tomorrow if I had room for it on my kitchen counters.

5My First Time, or Nothing is FoolproofSep 04, 2010
My Breville convection toaster oven arrived from Amazon promptly and in new condition. And it is a beauty.

For my first project, I decided on pizza. Since my old pizza pan is 16" across and the Breville is 13" I made a simple conversion and prepared 2/3 of my old recipe. OOOOPS. Neglected to notice how flat the new pan is. I've always made a thick crust pizza. I assembled it and took it over to the oven LEAVING A TRAIL OF PIZZA SAUCE AND CHEESE FROM THE WORK TABLE TO THE OVEN. I popped it in the oven anyway but managed to slobber topping onto the inside of the oven. After cleaning up the floor and counter and my shoes and throwing two pot holders, three oven mitts and the clothes I was wearing into the washer, I enjoyed a very nice pizza. I could have given it a couple of minutes more, consistent with the trial and error method expected with a new product. I don't think I should use the pizza cutting wheel, since it marked the surface of the pan. The whole pizza could easily be removed from the non stick pan to a proper cutting surface. When the oven was completely cool it cleaned up nicely with a soapy sponge. The crumb tray soaked clean and I put the rack in the dishwasher. Problem solved. Maybe next time I can use the baking pan, which does have higher sides. Pizzas don't have to be round.

I would like to see a pizza tray with higher sides for the thick crust pizza I like to make. A tab or two on the rim would be nice for easier removal from the oven. Somehow I thought the baking pan would be big enough to make a nice big cake. I think it's really intended for roasting meat and for going under the broiling rack.

The instruction book is great. Each function is described in clear detail. The recipe section might be useful but what I really wanted was a guide for baking a half dozen potatoes, roasting a whole chicken (stuffed or not), or baking a 13 x 9 box cake. I chose the Breville over other convection ovens because it can take a 13" pan. I'm wondering if this compact counter top style is really adequate for my needs or should I have gone for a larger convection oven.

All in all, this oven seems to be a quality piece of equipment that will do whatever you ask it to do.

5Love this ovenSep 03, 2010
I was a bit hesitant when I saw the product was made in China but was delighted to find it is very well made, stylish and does everything I want. The convection mode is so quiet that I had to put my ear down to the vent to be sure it was on. I have tried just about every mode and it has not failed me once. The handle on the cord is genius and wonder why more manufacturers don't do that. I do keep mine plugged in as it only stays in the ready mode a few minutes before turning off. It toasts both bread and one half a bagel with ease and have baked cakes and casseroles with great results. The removable crumb tray is easy to remove and insert and cleans off easily. It is a quality product and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Have not turned on my big oven since I got it. Having it handle a 9 x 12 pan is great, as most toaster ovens will not do that. Yes, it is pricey but seems to be well worth the money. Have had it about a month and have used it every day. Cleans up nicely and is very good looking on the counter. You will not be sorry you purchased this item. Has not heard of Breville before but am impressed with their quality.
